Brought together by the Enterprise Europe Network, a Spanish SME has teamed up with German researchers in an EU-funded project to prevent contamination in wine corks.

For wine lovers, there is nothing worse when opening a bottle only to find that the cork is rotten, making the wine undrinkable. A common fault in wine, ‘cork taint’ affects as much as 5% of the bottled wine in Europe, resulting in annual losses of €700 million.
